HSBC is expecting to see a rise in demand from its clients. "Today, HSBC has about 3,000 grid CPUs. This is bound to increase over the next few years," Dowling says. "It's hard to be certain, but I'm sure the business could find a way to use 6,000. I expect we can meet some of this demand by more efficient use of what we have, and better software. By the end of the year, I expect we'll have somewhere between 3,000 and 6,000 CPUs," he says.
