Jinfonet and DataSynapse Partner to Provide Sophisticated Reporting for Virtualized Web Applications Running in a Grid EnvironmentPartnership Boosts Application Performance and Data Analysis/Presentation for Web Based Applications Operating within a Virtualized Infrastructure ROCKVILLE, MD · May 3, 2006 · Jinfonet, the leader in embedded reporting solutions for Java applications, and DataSynapse, Inc., a global provider of virtual application infrastructure software, announced today they have combined forces to provide a joint solution for sophisticated reporting that can be executed across a virtualized infrastructure enabled by DataSynapse FabricServer™ software. JReport®, Jinfonet's flagship product, is being certified to run on FabricServer, and Jinfonet engineers will build a FabricServer integration module for JReport.
With DataSynapse's FabricServer, Web-based applications can be virtualized to run across a pool of shared, heterogeneous resources while appearing as a single system to the end-user. By pooling resources rather than creating and supporting specific applications with dedicated computing resources, IT organizations can "right size" their Web application environments - matching specific application demand with only those resources necessary to satisfy that demand. The solution increases utilization and allows resources to be reallocated elsewhere as needed. IT organizations can now deliver greater performance at lower total cost for their Web applications.
Through the partnership announced today, JReport can serve as the reporting engine for applications virtualized through DataSynapse FabricServer - without having to customize JReport or the application in which it is being embedded. A business requiring reporting and analysis for its J2EE applications can have all the features JReport offers while also taking advantage of DataSynapse's virtualized processing environment.
JReport can be embedded directly into Java-based applications as an enterprise archive (EAR) or Web archive (WAR) file. It becomes a native part of the application and serves as a seamless reporting extension. JReport presents data in clear, easy-to-understand reports so organizations can make better business decisions. Now an application and its included reporting functionality can be virtualized to run seamlessly in a grid environment. "The joint solution provides the ability to dynamically scale enterprise reporting requirements," said Rick Moran, senior vice president, business development for DataSynapse. "JReport provides the critical business intelligence needed to optimize performance of J2EE applications running in a shared environment."
"JReport is ideally suited for a virtual computing environment," said John E. Gularson, executive vice president for Jinfonet. "As computing moves to the grid, those application vendors that have embedded JReport can plug right in to FabricServer without having to change their application – or ours."
The joint solution has already been piloted by a global financial services firm. The company is using the combined offering to provide real-time reporting for its anti-money laundering operation, and it has cited increased application performance and responsiveness as the offering's immediate benefits.
