DataSynapse GridServer Deployed in Nomura's Structured Products Trading EnvironmentLONDON · July 10, 2006 · DataSynapse, a global provider of virtual application infrastructure software, today announced that Nomura International plc, the European business of Japanese investment bank Nomura Group, is live with DataSynapse GridServer in its International Equity Derivatives division.
Nomura has deployed DataSynapse GridServer in its London-based operations to initially grid-enable its Sophis RISQUE equity derivatives trading application for pricing and risk processing. The software is currently live on Wintel-based servers and will enable the bank to reduce processing time for pricing of complex trades from hours to minutes.
GridServer virtualizes process-intensive applications and dynamically allocates system resources to improve productivity and performance levels across the enterprise without having to rewrite code or re-factor the system architecture. DataSynapse virtualization technology will enable Nomura to quickly and easily maximize its resources without major investment in new hardware or expansion of its existing data centers.
"In the investment banking world, the ability to run more complex risk scenarios and at greater volumes can yield immediate return on investment," said Willy Ross, DataSynapse managing director of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). In this case, Nomura conducted an extensive evaluation of grid vendors including pilots and selected DataSynapse due to the quality of the solution and ease of implementation."
Already the de facto standard for grid and virtualization technology in the financial services industry, in January this year, DataSynapse announced that for the fifth consecutive year it had more than doubled its annual revenues.
