Wachovia, a DataSynapse Customer, Wins NetworkWorld Enterprise All-Star Award and is Named to the InformationWeek 500

Company Honored for Successful, Innovative Application Virtualization Project with DataSynapse Technology

NEW YORK · September 25, 2006 · DataSynapse, a global provider of application virtualization software, today announced that its customer, Wachovia, was honored with NetworkWorld's Enterprise All-Star Award, while ranking 97th in the InformationWeek 500 for its highly successful, innovative application virtualization project. An industry "first," Wachovia worked with DataSynapse to virtualize its most critical transactional applications as part of a multi-phase, multi-year initiative for continuous process improvement.

Wachovia's Corporate and Investment Bank division partnered with DataSynapse to virtualize legacy, third-party and service-oriented applications, adaptively provisioning them across a shared infrastructure. By implementing DataSynapse GridServer® and FabricServer™, Wachovia has created a service infrastructure that delivers processing power to applications on demand, improving performance and quality of service to the business.

"This year's awards recognized exceptional use of innovative technology to benefit the bottom line and further business objectives," said Kelly Vizzini, chief marketing officer of DataSynapse. "Wachovia's application virtualization project fit the bill because it's helping the bank to achieve its goals for continuous process improvement, while delivering measurable, tangible business benefits."

As a result of the project, Wachovia experienced new business opportunities, major performance gains, better report turnaround time and greater trading volume and simulation - all while optimizing existing IT resources. Aside from impressive ROI, the project added new business capabilities. DataSynapse enabled Wachovia to achieve operational cost savings, while improving growth efficiency, resulting in a five-fold improvement in application responsiveness and a 50 percent increase in throughput.

This year's NetworkWorld Enterprise All-Star Award netted 40 winners, selected from nearly 200 entries. Winners were segmented into eight categories and divided into a variety of vertical markets, including education, financial services, healthcare and hospitality industries.

For 18 years, InformationWeek has tracked and named the country's most innovative users of information technology with its annual InformationWeek 500 listing. Wachovia has been recognized in the top 100 of this list for its virtualization initiative with DataSynapse. This implementation continues to earn accolades from industry luminaries for its innovation and impressive business benefits.

In addition, DataSynapse was recently named as one of the fastest-growing private companies in America by this year's Inc. 500. Ranked at number 39, DataSynapse has grown more than twenty-fold since its inception in 2000, and its revenues have more than doubled since 2004.
