Financial-i announces winners and companies to watch in its inaugural Leaders In Innovation Awards

LONDON, November 9, 2006: Financial-i magazine has announced winners across more than 50 categories in its inaugural Leaders in Innovation Awards.

In conjunction with feedback from leading analyst firms and consultants covering the wholesale transaction banking space, financial-i has compiled a list of companies it considers to be innovation leaders in categories encompassing:

  • Securities services
  • Treasury & FX
  • Network services
  • Risk management
  • Data management

To be published in the Q4 edition of Financial-i, the inaugural Leaders in Innovation awards provide recognition for banks and software and hardware vendors shaping the delivery of business solutions in wholesale transaction banking.

With an increasing emphasis on ROI and shareholder value, IT decision makers in wholesale financial institutions and their customers (including multinational corporations and investment manager) are seeking business solutions that are: cost effective, help solve common business problems (STP, integration across departmental silos, automation of manual processes), are less time consuming and costly to implement, enhance overall efficiency and transform bank to customer communications.

In selecting our winners we focused on product innovation over the last 12 to 18 months, cost effectiveness of solutions in terms of implementation and deployment, potential business benefits, ease of implementation and the ability to tackle specific business issues or problems.

Leaders in Innovation is not just about rewarding the banks and vendors with the largest market share or the most profitability. And although some companies may be pioneers in their space, it is about recognising those companies that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to product innovation. In an attempt to highlight some of the smaller-to-medium-sized companies that are entering this space, we have where applicable, identified Companies to Watch. These are in some instances, up and coming companies that may not have the geographical footprint or market penetration of larger providers, but are breaking new ground in terms of the development of innovative solutions.

The winners we have selected are by no means an exhaustive list of all companies that are innovating in the wholesale financial services space. However, we have tried to incorporate those areas that we cover regularly in the magazine and that form the essential backbone of wholesale transaction banking.
