LexisNexis® Applied Discovery® Implements Application Virtualization from DataSynapse

SEATTLE and NEW YORK – April 10, 2007 – DataSynapse, Inc., the global provider of application virtualization software, and Applied Discovery, Inc., a leading provider of Applied Discovery® electronic discovery services to the nation's top law firms and corporations, today announced the enterprise-wide deployment of GridServer®, application service virtualization software that virtualizes and distributes application workload and executes in a guaranteed, scalable manner over existing computing resources.

DataSynapse GridServer addresses compute- and data-intensive applications – dramatically improvingapplication performance and response times for the typically immense e-discovery projects managed by Applied Discovery. These enhancements further establish Applied Discovery as one of the few e-discovery providers that can process large amounts of data for legal, corporate and public sector clients.

Within six months of implementation, DataSynapse enabled Applied Discovery to move to a highly scalable infrastructure, enabling improved performance of the company’s award-winning online applications. With GridServer, Applied Discovery processes such as uploading, monitoring and converting various file types are greatly enhanced by virtualizing and intelligently distributing application workloads across shared system resources. This results in delivery of business-critical services and information to clients at a faster, more efficient pace.

Providing automated conversion of files to a standard PDF format, GridServer now enables Applied Discovery to more quickly convert and upload data from disparate media sources including hard copies, hard drives, CDs and DVDs immediately for maximum throughput and IT resource utilization.

DataSynapse’s offering also allows Applied Discovery to streamline its complex document processing pipeline, which parallelizes tasks over 250 blade servers. Applied Discovery chose GridServer over other offerings based on its superior functionality, which satisfies rigorous technical requirements including job prioritization, scalability, SLA management, redundancy and maturity in supporting multiple platforms. With DataSynapse technology, Applied Discovery plans to move toward a service-oriented architecture (SOA) model for future deployments.
